Words Of Inspiration From Fr. Mateo

(Father Mateo speaking to lay apostles in Holland in March 1916)

I am not here to give you a speech or a conference, I have come just to speak to you with faith and love about the King of Love. And to begin, let me give you a bit of the history of the Enthronement.

Ten years ago…After being diagnosed by the doctors as very ill, I arrived in Paray-le-Monial, that place of the revelations of the Sacred Heart of Jesus…I was praying and suddenly I felt sort of a shock. It was at once rather violent and at the same time gentle. I rose up completely healed. Kneeling in the chapel, totally absorbed in this experience of grace, I understood what Our Lord wanted of me and that very evening I conceived the plan to reconquer the world, family by family, for the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I understood that among the requests of Our Lord to Saint Margaret Mary there was one that had not received a response,  that the reign of love, which the Sacred Heart asked for, would be the result not only of the consecration of the whole world, already done by the sovereign pontiff, Leo XIII, but the result of the consecration of the family home, where the Heart of Jesus wanted to have His altar and His throne of love. This happened there at Paray-le-Monial where Our Lord had said, “If you believe in my love, you will see the magnificence of my love.”

I then left for Rome to ask the authorization of the Holy Father[1] to consecrate my life to this apostolate. I knelt at the Pope’s feet and said to him, “Most Holy Father, I have come to beg you to authorize me to work for the fulfillment of the desires of the Sacred Heart, in seeking to make him reign by love throughout the world. Allow me to be the apostle of the Sacred Heart, to conquer the world for him going home to home, family to family.”  The Holy Father responded, “No, my son. You ask me if I will allow you to do this. But I tell you, as the Vicar of Christ on earth, I command you to go throughout the world, preaching, evangelizing and conquering the sanctuary of the family for the Heart of Jesus, and spreading this devotion everywhere.”
