October Adoration: The Plan of the Father and of Jesus

Introduction.

Jesus’ dream was nothing less than the creation of a society rooted in dignity and aligned with the Father’s Plan. While this Plan will reach its fullness in the hereafter, it begins—and must begin—to take shape in this life through the transformation of human society. Because it concerns the social order, it cannot remain confined to the interior life of individuals; it necessarily carries political and communal implications.

Jesus envisioned a society in which people share who they are and what they have, serve one another generously, and allow authentic solidarity to flourish. As followers of Jesus, our task is to help this new society—His vision of the Reign of God—gradually become a lived reality.

- My God, come to my aid.

- Lord, make haste to help me.

- Glory be to the Father...

- As it was in the beginning…

Poem.

For a new world and a just earth, we join our youthful forces.

Our lives will be the greatest gift for this new rebirth.

We do not want wars; we hate the hunger that gnaws at the bodies of the city.

Alongside Christ, at the great table, we seek what is new in brotherhood.

Our lives will be the greatest gift for this new rebirth.

Silence for adoration.

Psalm based on Is. 61, 10; 62, 1-5.

I overflow with joy in the Lord; my spirit rejoices in my God. Before me unfolds a world made free and pure—a tender, joyful land that welcomes truth as a sister and honors justice as its mother.

For the sake of such a land, my voice will not fall silent. For the sake of this beautifully fashioned world, my heart will not grow weary. For the sake of every man and woman, I will shout without ceasing until dawn blossoms like a flower—light renewed, rising again—and salvation gleams in the eyes of humankind.

We will rename the earth. No longer will it be called inhospitable, nor a harsh stepmother, nor a valley of tears, nor abandoned by God. We will name this world—created in love, redeemed, cherished—the heir to Your glory. We will name it son.

Silence for meditation.

Reading.

“You may do whatever you choose to us, but we will continue to hold fast to nonviolence. You may throw us into jail, yet even there we will still love you. You may bomb our homes and threaten our children, and—however hard it may be—we will still love you.

But the day will come when we win our freedom, and not for ourselves alone. We will win you as well—your hearts and your conscience. And in that victory, love will triumph twice over.” (adapted from M. L. King)

Silence for reflection.

Petitions.

- For those who view the situation of the world and the Church with despair...

- That we may learn to embrace all the good that the current state of the world has to offer...

- That we Christians may work together to bring about a new world...

- Add your own petitions…

Our Father.

Prayer.

Our Father, you loved the world so much that you gave your own Son; grant that we, following in his footsteps, may be able to give our lives—not to judge the world, but to save it.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
